Doris Handelman Schnur, 99 years of age, of West Hartford, died September 23, 2025. Born February 19, 1926, in Brooklyn, NY, Doris was the oldest daughter of the late Hyman and Rose Handelman. She was predecased 10 years earlier by her husband, William Schnur. They met as childhood sweethearts in their Brooklyn, New York neighborhood and were happily married for 71 years. They moved to New Britain, CT shortly after WWII, then permanently settled in West Hartford until their passing.
Doris leaves her children, Donald N. Schnur and his wife Toni of West Hartford, Alan Schnur and his wife Deborah of Clinton, and Elizabeth Lucyk and her husband Mark of West Hartford; four grandchildren: Craig Schnur and his wife, Shelly, Jason Schnur, Alex Lucyk, Sam Lucyk and his wife, Selen, and Charlie Lucyk; and a great-grandson, Anthony Schnur. She was predeceased by her younger sister, Rhoda Diamond, her son, Michael Schnur and her granddaughter, Jessica Schnur, Gravesite services and internment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26th in Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Brookdale Senior Living, 22 Simsbury Road, West Hartford, CT 06117, or the charity of your choice.
