Edward Oquendo Obituary

*PLEASE NOTE DATE OF SERVICE HAS CHANGED* Edward Oquendo "Flaco", 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 4, 2025 after a brief illness. Born in Meriden on June 6, 1967, he was the son of Lucy Gonzalez and the late Saturnino Oquendo. Eddie was raised in Puerto Rico and returned to Meriden when he was 18 years old. At an early age, he worked hard to support his family and eventually helped them return to Meriden also. He worked his way up to Supervisor at a local jacuzzi company where he helped assemble the jacuzzis. It is evident that Eddie was a hard worker, especially when it came to his family. He was a jokester who had a kind heart and always lent a helping hand. He was an avid movie watcher and also enjoyed watching The Cowboys. He had a love for music and dancing. He is survived by his son, Joshua Oquendo; his sister, Marisol Manacchio and her husband, Wayne; his nephews, David and Tristan; his nieces, Chelsea and Jacey; one great-nephew; and one great-niece. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, extended family members and friends. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden, CT 06450. There are no calling hours and everyone is asked to meet directly at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Edward, please visit our Tree Store.
