Fern Reimers Obituary
Fern I. Reimers, 92, of Plantsville, wife of the late Harry O. Reimers, Jr., went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Fern was born in West Springfield, Massachusetts, on November 8, 1932, the daughter of the late Joseph and Hazel (Rockwell) Harrison. She and her husband lived and raised their family in Agawam, Massachusetts.
She is survived by her 4 children and their spouses (Sandra Feld; Harry and Karen Reimers; Timothy and Lynne Reimers; and Paul and Melissa Reimers), 15 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother (Phil Harrison), her son-in-law (Christopher Feld) and her grandson (Benjamin Reimers).
Upon graduating from West Springfield High School, West Springfield, MA, in 1951, Fern became a full-time employee of Sears Roebuck & Co. where she worked in the personnel department. It's there she met her husband, Harry, and was married June 22, 1952. They were married for 70 years. Together they were independent supervisors selling Shaklee products for 50 years. Fern also was an office manager for Child Evangelism Fellowship for 30 years.
The greatest decision of her life came when she accepted Jesus as her personal Savior in 1952. When she first met Harry, she was not a Christian. He took her to a Youth for Christ meeting in Springfield where she heard for the first time that she was a sinner in need of a Savior. She understood salvation is by grace alone through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. She accepted Jesus as her Savior that very night. She and her husband served the Lord together for 70 plus years at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Springfield/Hampden. Through those years, Fern sang in the choir and trio, served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School, and served in many VBS weeks.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Heritage Baptist Church, 161 S. Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Her memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the church. Interment in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Heritage Baptist Church.
