Frederick Lewis Obituary
Frederick Edward Lewis was born on January 20, 1955, in Kingston, Jamaica, to the late Rupert and Icelyn Lewis. He grew up in the community of Olympic Gardens, near the well-known area of Waterhouse. He was the third of eight children. After a prolonged illness lasting three and half years, Frederick passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. His family and friends are deeply saddened by his loss.
Affectionately known as Freddy, Pressie, or Skelly, Frederick was loved by many for his warm personality, humor, and generous spirit.
He attended Seaward Primary School and Penwood Secondary School, later furthered his education at St. Andrew Technical High School. After graduating Frederick began his career at Douglas Peirce Engineering as an apprentice, before joining on to Cedar Construction as a mechanic, where he repaired heavy equipment. He dedicated manyyears to his trade before migrating to the United States in 1990. There, he continued working as a mechanic, later advancing to positions as a welder and field supervisor with Virgo Ironworks Inc. and Delgar Ironworks.
Frederick was a pillar of his community in both Olympic Gardens and Waterhouse. A passionate lover of sports-especially dominoes, cricket, basketball and baseball-he also had a deep appreciation for music and was known for his singing and dancing.
A true community leader, Frederick was selfless in his service to others, always ready to help both the young and the elderly. He was instrumental in founding the Sunshine Youth Club, which continues to thrive today as a vibrant symbol to his enduring legacy. Frederick leaves to cherish his memory his beloved life partner Karen Campbell; daughters Dominique Thompson (Lauritz Thompson III), Sian Teague (Jevon Teague), Kristal Feacher (Carlton Feacher II), and Lexis Lewis (Jamar McGregor); grandchildren Jasmine, Haley, Kelly, Brianna, Willie, Zoe, Sarai, and Rane; sisters Claudette, Angela, Josephine, Arlene, and Sandra; brothers Randolph (Bunny) and Edmund (Scooby); as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews, his lifelong friend Bing, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Frederick will be remembered for his strength, kindness, humor, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.
His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and those whose lives he touched.
A celebration of life for Frederick will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight Street, New Haven. Family and friends may view at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. The burial will be Thursday, October 30, 2025 in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.
