George Peters Obituary

George R. Peters, 82, of Enfield, CT (formerly Ludlow, MA), beloved husband of Barbara (Sacheli) Peters, peacefully passed away at home on October 23, 2025. George was born in Holyoke, MA; son of the late Margaret (Wuench) Peters. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Dorothy and Salvatore Sacheli. Besides his wife of 21 years, George is survived by his daughter Elaine and her spouse Joele; his son Gary and his partner Gina; his nephew Christopher Sacheli and his wife Kristen and their sons Anthony and Ryan. George served in the Army National Guard from 1964-1970 as a Sargent in the Infantry Division. He worked for the telephone company (Verizon and Bell Atlantic) for over 32 years and was a member of the American Legion Post 52 in Holyoke, MA. The family would like to thank his doctors (especially Dr. J. Mulhern); his Visiting Nurse Home Care team (especially Carol) and his home care aides (especially Al and Tristen). He had a gift for making people laugh. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in George's name to Tunnel to Towers or the American Legion. At George's request burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit leetestevens.com.
