Gregory S. Lucas

Gregory Lucas Tribute Gregory Sanford Lucas, 94, departed this life on January 29, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. Gregory was born in New Haven, CT on March 23, 1930, a son to the late Willis Avery and Evelyn Dunn Lucas. Gregory was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from work in 1989. Greg was an avid golfer & bowler. He loved to swim in the ocean and could always be found at Hammonasset Beach State Park. He was a huge fan of Professional Wrestling and frequently attended live events and always had it on the tv. He loved math and science and the family could never keep up with him. There wasn't a computer or appliance that he would not take apart and rebuild to make it better. Gregory never married and often said 'He was too young to think about marriage'. Gregory loved his family and spending time with his brothers and sisters and all his nieces and nephews. He loved going to dinner with friends. His laugh was infectious and it would always light up a room. Gregory was always very generous to his family especially at Christmas. Family was everything to him. Gregory is survived by his sister Willene Derisi (the late Joseph Derisi) of Hamden; his brother Jeffrey Lucas and his wife Patricia of Wallingford; his sister Rosalee Vanmarter and husband Robert of Wallingford; and his sister Sondra Veerman (the late Gary Veerman) of Succasunna, NJ. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many great friends. Besides his parents, Greg is predeceased by his brother Rodney Lucas (Marion) of West Haven and his nephew, Jeffrey J. Lucas Jr. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:30AM at Center Street Cemetery in Wallingford. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, 22nd of March, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford.
