Jacqueline Binette Obituary
Jacqueline A. (Auzou) Binette, 101, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Marcel J. Binette, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025. Jacqueline was born in Trait Seine Inferieure, France on October 25, 1923, daughter of the late Andre and Marthe Auzou. She resided in Rouen, France where she met the love of her life, best friend and life partner, Marcel. She immigrated to the United States in 1947, taught herself English, and became a citizen in 1950. She resided in Connecticut for the past 77 years, where she made a loving home for her family. She was a former communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester and St. Margaret Mary Church in South Windsor.
Jacqueline (Jackie) was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and a dear friend. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family remembers her as loving, giving and a kind woman who loved her family dearly. Growing up in France, she endured so many challenges: the loss of her mother at 8 years of age, the adversity of World War II, the many losses of loved ones and the struggle to survive. In spite of it all, she remained a survivor at heart, with a bright spirit and great sense of humor. She loved to sing, had a beautiful voice and she always danced like no one was watching. Her stories and legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are better people for having had her as their mom and grandmother and are grateful to have had her with them for so long. There is a profound sense of loss with her passing. Jackie is survived by her children, Joanne O'Neil of Niantic, Marilyn Plumridge and her husband James of Windsor, Michele Scheuer and her partner Glenn Johnson of Hadley, MA, Theresa Chisnall and her husband Chip of Enfield, and Daniel Binette and his wife Dana of Willington; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, her caretaker angels, Karen Shonek of Hartford and Taliah Carter-Spyke of East Hartford, whose love and devotion made a world of difference in her quality of life (forever grateful), and many other relatives, both here and in France, and dear friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Marcel; her daughter Karen Soule; her son-in-law, David O'Neil; her great grandson Jonah Stiles Boutin; one sister and two brothers.
Her funeral service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jackie may be made to VNHSC Hospice, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066. Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com
