James Arsenault Obituary

Devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather James C. Arsenault, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Midstate Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of Sharon (Johnson) Arsenault. Born in Taunton, Massachusetts on September 4, 1948, Jim was the son of the late Charles A. and Dorothy (Rosa) Arsenault. He moved to Connecticut with his family. After High School, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served four years in Vietnam during the war. Upon leaving the Navy, Jim moved to San Diego for a brief time. Choosing to come back home to Connecticut, Jim worked as a locksmith, a skill taught to him by his father, for the State of Connecticut until his retirement as a Master Locksmith. He later opened his own business, J & B Locksmith Service, LLC which he operated for 45 years. Simultaneously, Jim was a volunteer firefighter for the Willington Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Iwo Jima Association and the American Legion Post 0072. Jim was friendly and loved life. He was loud but in the best way. Jim was always happy and made friends everywhere he went. He was always willing to help people and was very handy. Jim enjoyed a good meal and loved traveling. Miami Beach, Florida, Freeport or Kittery Maine are among his favorite destinations. Most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was what brought him the most joy. In addition to Sharon, his wife of 24 years, Jim is survived by his daughter, Tiki Arsenault of CT, his sons, Mike Hogan and his wife Lisa of Naugatuck, Alan Hogan and his wife Jessica Usher of Holyoke, MA, and his grandchildren Dublin and Finnegan Hogan. He also leaves behind his brother Joseph Halbardier of Lebanon, and sister Cathy Insalaco of TN and his brothers-in-law Kenneth Johnson and his wife Birgit of PA and Wayne I. Johnson of Waterbury as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jim's celebration of Life, with full military honors will be held on SATURDAY, MARCH 1, 2025, from 3:00-5:30pm, with a service 5:30 -6:00pm at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury. I met Jim in 1996 when he became our locksmith. I always looked forward to seeing Jim and Sharon for close to thirty years. He was always fair and gracious and delivered great service all of those years. He was pretty fond of Popeyes chicken and would stop in and say hello when he was getting lunch or dinner. I admired him as a veteran, a businessman, and a friend. Our sincere condolences to Sharon and family. Pam and Doug
