John R. Mirek

John Robert (Bob) Mirek of Windsor Locks peacefully passed away October 25, 2025. Bob was born June 4, 1941, to the late John and Theresa (Blaszcyk) Mirek. He was a Windsor resident for most of his life and a 1960 graduate of Windsor High School. Known for his quiet, reserved, and thoughtful manner, Bob had a dry sense of humor and a quick wit. Bob worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation as a draftsman for 35 years and was proud of his contributions to the designing of highways and bridges throughout the state. In particular, he played an important role on a major renovation project for Route 2 East from I-84 in East Hartford to Colchester. Bob is survived by his aunt, Jean Dillon, and numerous cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his cousin Gary Mirek who was instrumental in coordination of Bob's care after he became ill. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Saundra Duncan for her devoted and loving care of Bob for the past 7 years, and to Stacey Martin and Renette Tibby ('Miss Tibby') who joined Saundra as caregivers 4 1/2 years ago to provide round-the-clock care. We would also like to extend our thanks to Kathy Mirek for her dedicated support as Bob's Conservator for almost 8 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Saint Damien of Molokai Parish, Saint Gabriel Church, 379 Broad Street, Windsor, CT. The interment will follow immediately after in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
