Joseph Blackwelder Obituary

Joseph E. Blackwelder, 69, of Enfield, beloved husband of Barbara (Renals) Blackwelder, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in Hartford on May 29, 1956, Joseph was the son of the late Norman and Florence (Arieti) Blackwelder. He dedicated 41 years of service to Alstrom Non-Wovens (formerly Dexter Corporation) before retiring. A longtime parishioner of Holy Family Church, Joseph found joy in the simple pleasures of life - attending classic car shows, meticulously caring for his lawn, and offering his skills as a fixer of all things. Above all, he was a loyal caretaker, always ready to lend a hand to family, friends, and neighbors alike. In addition to his loving wife Barbara, Joseph is survived by his children, Philippe Bullington, Tricia Blackwelder, and Joseph Blackwelder and his partner Alysia; his brother, Norman Blackwelder II; his sister, Teresa B. Welch and her partner John Guzie; his cherished grandchildren, Jayliana Harley and Reyna Blackwelder; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his in-laws, John and Carolyn Renals. His unwavering devotion, warm spirit, and helping hands will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Relatives and friends may join the family on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. Uncle Allan expresses his deepest sympathy for Joey`s passing. He also wanted to share a memory. He remembers Joey at a young age with Allan working at Riverside Park. He´d give him stacks of Riverside Park tickets and when Joey got a speeding ticket he would give the officers Riverside passes in lieu of getting the ticket He will be missed
