Joseph A. McVerry

On October 22, 2025 Joseph A. McVerry passed away in New Haven, CT surrounded by his family. He will be sorely missed as the beloved husband of Ann (Dattilo) McVerry and the loving father of Tara, Joseph and Conner McVerry. Joe was born in New Haven, CT on December 2, 1964 a son of Joseph F. McVerry of Hamden and the late Elizabeth (Hyland) McVerry. Joe was a graduate of Hamden High School and he attended Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI where he studied culinary arts. He was employed as a Director of Dining Services and Chef at Masonicare in Wallingford for many years. Outside of work, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially loved game night, cheering on the Boston Red Sox, and relaxing outside on the deck surrounded by loved ones. In addition to his wife and children, Joe is survived by his siblings Margaret (Joseph) DiBiase of Milford, Kathy McVerry of Hamden, Patricia (Rich) McManus of Woodbridge, Carol McVerry of Westbrook, and Michael (Yoselin) McVerry of the Dominican Republic. He also leaves behind in-laws Debra Dattilo of Hamden, Matt (Anne) Dattilo of East Falmouth, MA, Frances (Dave Wilson) Dattilo of Arlington, VA, and Lori D'Amora of Cheshire. Joe was also a wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Monday October 27th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Rita's Church, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. Friends are asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery North Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
