Joshua Galinski Obituary

Joshua John Galinski November 5, 1996 – October 13, 2025 Joshua John Galinski, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving parents, at the age of 28. Before his spinal cord injury nearly eight years ago, Josh was drawn to life's challenges and thrills. He loved riding his motorcycle, downhill mountain biking, paintballing, and tackling mud and obstacle races. He lived for the rush of adrenaline and the satisfaction of testing his limits. Following his injury, Josh far exceeded the expectations of his doctors and faced life in a new and profoundly difficult way. Yet, he showed immense strength and perseverance by continuing to find purpose and joy on his own terms. He poured his curiosity into new interests including growing mushrooms, collecting designer sneakers (more than 100 pairs), exploring anime, and teaching himself Japanese and Russian. He had an uncanny ability to absorb knowledge about almost anything. Josh was known for his quick wit, sharp sarcasm, and dry humor that could catch anyone off guard. He loved good conversation and was never one to turn down a shot ski. A devoted sports fan, he faithfully cheered on the Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Vikings and was proudly undefeated this season in fantasy football. He was generous to a fault, especially with his nephews, who adored their Uncle Josh. Even in hard times, he found comfort in connection, through shared stories, laughter, and the simple moments that made life meaningful. He is survived by his parents, Dawn and John Galinski; his sisters, Christine Anderson and her husband, Zachary, and Tricia Flannery and her husband, Michael; and his nephews, Chase Anderson and Lane and Foster Flannery. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and was predeceased by his grandparents on both sides. Josh will be remembered for his resilience, generosity, and one-of-a-kind spirit. He lived life his own way; with humor, curiosity, and heart and he leaves behind a legacy of strength and love that will never be forgotten. Friends and family are welcome to join us in celebrating Josh's life on Saturday, October 18th anytime between 3-5pm at the barn at Anderson Farm (119 Root Rd. Somers, CT). In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a cause close to your heart or to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
