Judy C. Baker-Parlee, 76, of Vernon, was called home after battling cancer on August 7, 2025. Judy was born in Manchester and raised in Coventry and was the beloved daughter of the late Bernard Chappell Sr. and Marjorie Chappell. Judy was a proud graduate of Coventry High School, Class of 1966.

Judy built a respected career as a commercial and construction painter, working for F L & R Painting for 15 years before her retirement. In a field largely dominated by men, she took great pride in being a woman who excelled at her craft, and she inspired others with her determination, skill and work ethic. Outside of work, Judy had a passion for ten-pin bowling and was a dedicated and compassionate member of the recovery community, actively involved with Narcotics Anonymous for over 30 years. She served as a coordinator for Niantic State Prison, giving hope, encouragement, and guidance to countless individuals over the years.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, James Parlee; her children Arthur A. Baker III and wife Deanna of Port Orange, FL, Angela Curran and her husband , James of Raynham, MA, and Brett Baker and Stacey of Tolland; her grandchildren, Taylor Baker, Brandon Baker, Cory Dufour, Eric Dufour, and Logan Baker; her great-grandchildren, Daylin, Aria, and Grace Dufour; her sisters Patrica Ann Smith an her husband Al, and Pamela Stanizzi and her husband Angelo; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Bernard Jr., David, and William; and her sister, Linda Brancieri.

A celebration of life is being planned for the near future. Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home in South Windsor has care of the arrangements.
