Karen Halpert Obituary

Karen Halpert, 67, of Bristol, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2025. She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Halpert of Bristol; her children, Michael Halpert (Adrienne) of Maryland, and Ashley Beckford (Corey) of Bristol, CT; and her cherished grandchildren, McKenzie Halpert and Carter and Carsen Beckford. Karen also leaves behind her brother, Ken Saucier (Sue) of Newington, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Karen was born and raised in Newington, where she lived for over 50 years. She was a devoted member of Grace Episcopal Church and deeply involved in her community. She ran a home daycare for many years before beginning a fulfilling role with the Newington Senior Center, where she helped countless residents with programs such as energy assistance, renters' rebate, and Meals on Wheels. Above all, Karen's greatest joy was her family. She met the love of her life, built a home filled with love and laughter, and treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Karen and Frank shared a simple but cherished nightly routine of decaf coffee and Wheel of Fortune. Karen also cared deeply for her mother, welcoming her into their home as she aged. The two shared a special, unbreakable bond, spending their evenings together watching QVC and Dancing with the Stars. Some of Karen's fondest memories were made during family camping trips to Witch Meadow in Salem, CT. She had a passion for scrapbooking, a love for musicals and theatre, and a heart for animals, having adopted many rescue dogs over the years. An exceptional cook, she created delicious meals that brought her family together during holidays and special occasions. Karen was predeceased by her parents, Normand and Bernadette Saucier, and her brothers, Kerry and Kevin. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, June 29th, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 124 Maple Hill Ave., Newington. Sympathy, condolences and prayers for Karens' family and friends. We graduated high school together. She was a beacon of light in school and went on to be a beacon of hope for the countless number of people she helped at the Newington Senior and Disabled center. She is truly an angel and a blessing to the world. Very sad she was taken from her family too soon. Peace and prayers.
