Kathleen McMahon

Kathleen McMahon, 74, of Newington, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late John McMahon, with whom she shared many cherished years. Born in Hartford, CT, to the late Robert and Margaret (Newhouse) Buckland, Kathleen was a graduate of Bulkeley High School, Class of 1970. She dedicated many years of service as a tax assessor for the town of Tolland, CT, before retiring. Kathleen will be lovingly remembered for her sparkling blue eyes, her infectious sense of humor, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. She was a loyal and thoughtful friend, always ready with a warm smile or a listening ear. She enjoyed quilting, and her love for photography captured the beauty she saw in the world. Later in life, she found joy in the game of golf. But above all, her heart belonged to her family, who meant everything to her. Kathleen's memory will be forever treasured by her daughter, Kyla McMahon, and her granddaughter, Josephine McMahon. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert Buckland and Thomas Buckland and his wife, Susan; her brothers-in-law, James McMahon and his wife, Ellen, Paul McMahon, and Joseph McMahon; her sisters-in-law, Frances Peterson and Catherine McMahon; her special niece, Melissa Buckland, and Melissa's children, Zoey and Tristan; her dear friend, Denise Cote; and many extended family members and friends. She is reunited in peace with her husband, John, and her brother, Francis Buckland. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Kathleen's life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Church of the Annunciation Parish, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington, CT.
