Leon Dalenta Obituary

Leon G. Dalenta, Jr., 77 of Enfield CT died peacefully at home on 9/28/25 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Norwich in 1948 to Leon G. Dalenta, Sr and Emily (Burda). Leon grew up in Hartford and is a graduate of Buckley High School class of 1966. He worked for the State of CT DOT and then DOC for 31 years before retiring in 2011. Leon enjoyed spending his retirement golfing, fishing and rooting for his favorite baseball team, the NY Yankees. More than that he loved being surrounded by his family and seeing everyone happy together. Leon was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Dalenta. He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Shirley (Jurgensen), daughters Tisha Callahan (Kiddo) and her partner Ronald Renaud, Stacey Volk (Sweetie) and her husband James, son William Callahan and his wife Tracy. His pride and joys were his grandkids Jayden and Jamison Volk. He also leaves behind a brother Walter Dalenta, Sister-In-Laws Janet Dalenta and Cindy Dalenta as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to give a special thanks to Ronald Renaud for all his help from Chauffeur to Dr. appts. to being his golf watching buddy as well as to all his Hospice Team.

As Leon requested there will be no services.

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Shirley & Family
There is SOOOO much to say about Leon, therefore I will just summarize it by saying he was a gentle man, GREAT guy and a good friend. I for one will truly miss him and will NEVER forget him. With deepest condolences.
