Lois Burdette Obituary

Lois Jane Burdette, of Hebron, CT passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at her home with her beloved family attentively by her side at the accomplishment of 96 years of life. Lois was born on January 3, 1929, in Irvona, PA. She was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Pusey) Beers. Lois married James Alfred Burdette in 1948 and together they raised five children. Her husband James predeceased her in 2007. After a long fulfilling career, Lois retired from the U.S. Government as a Contract Specialist. Lois was proud of her career travels and accomplishments. Although recently moving to Connecticut to be with her son Paul, she lived for long periods of time in both Alexandria, Virginia and Peachtree City, Georgia. When Lois was not spending time with her family or enjoying a nice retail shopping excursion, she could often be found caring for her loved plants, flowers or feeding the wild birds and butterflies. She was a well dressed, classy lady always up for a cup of tea and a chat. Lois was a woman of strong faith and devotion and a steadfast member of the Lutheran Church. Lois will be remembered fondly for her helpful, loving and generous nature but mostly for her strong devotion given to family. She was always there in anyone's time of need. She leaves behind her children and their spouses, Cheryl (Kevin) McCabe of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; James Burdette King George, VA; Dale (Kimberly) Burdette of Newnan, GA; Paul (Jennifer) Burdette of Andover; her grandchildren, Korey and Colleen, James Jr. and Nicole, Betsy, Jacob and Rachel; as well as many great grandchildren; and extended family members and friends. Lois was sadly predeceased by her beloved son, Lawrence Burdette in the year 2015. Funeral services will be held from the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, on Saturday, September 6th, beginning with calling hours from 1-2:30pm, followed by a memorial celebration of life service at the funeral home at 2:30pm. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery at a later date to be announced.
