Margaret Modeen

Margaret J. (Moselsky) Modeen, 86, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of the late Frederick Modeen, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 9, 2025. Born in Hartford on April 30, 1939, she was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond and Charlotte (Akerlind) Moselsky.
Known affectionately as "Mammie" by her family and friends, Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and, most recently, proud great-grandmother. She lived a full and spirited life, always surrounded by the warmth of loved ones and lifelong friends.
Throughout her adult life, Margaret worked in a variety of roles, but her greatest joy came from being with family. She was happiest when gathered around the table for a lively game of setback or poker, or cheering on her favorite teams-the UConn Huskies and the Boston Red Sox-with unwavering enthusiasm.
Margaret's legacy of love and laughter lives on through her three children and their spouses: Terry Szabo and her husband Miklos, Linda Cortelli and her husband Todd, and Frederick Modeen, Jr. and his wife Bonnie. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Jamie Hoover and her husband Robert, and Miklos Szabo II, and her treasured great-granddaughter, Scarlett Hoover. Margaret is survived by three sisters, three brothers, and their families, as well as her dear sister-in-law, Donna (Modeen) McInnis of Bar Harbor, ME.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
