Megan Elizabeth Russo

Megan Elizabeth Russo, 22, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Yale–New Haven Hospital after a long illness, with her family by her side. Born in New Haven on January 29, 2003, Megan was the beloved daughter of Richard and Nan Plunkett Russo. She was a 2021 graduate of North Haven High School and recently earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. Megan loved playing soccer with NHSC and served as captain of the North Haven High School soccer team. She played for CFC and was an OG member of the Ginga FC soccer family. She also played hockey with the Shoreline Sharks and lacrosse for North Haven. A passionate Tampa Bay Lightning fan, Megan planned her days around Lightning games. Megan was happiest when competing at the highest level in EVERYTHING she did. She was the cherished sister of Maxwell and Tyler Russo (and her dog Finn). She was the granddaughter of Theresa Russo Holley and her husband Jay, and Richard Russo and his wife Wendy. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Hugh and Catherine Plunkett. She was also beloved by her aunts and uncles, Hugh and Mimi, Tia and Uncle Reid, and Titi and Yaya, along with all her cousins, who were more like brothers and sisters to her. Megan was blessed with a large and loving friend group, many of whom became family to her (Sports teams, North Haven, URI, her summer family at MGCA). Megan lived life BIG and encouraged everyone around her to do the same. LBFM! Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 21, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Family and friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (St. Paul VI Parish), 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, on Wednesday morning, October 22, at 10:00 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian Burial. The committal service will immediately follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
