Michael Liso Obituary

Michael D. Liso, 79 of North Haven, formerly of East Haven passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the West Haven VA Hospital on October 31, 2025. Mike was the loving husband of Theresa Parise Liso, he was born in New Haven to the late Nicholas and Annette Liso on August 3, 1946. After graduating from high school, Mike served our country proudly in the US Navy from 1963-1967 as a Navy Seabee in Antarctica. Upon his Honorable Discharge from service, Mike became a career firefighter in East Haven, rising through the ranks and became the Drill Master of the department. It was there where Mike found his true calling of helping others. Mike received many accommodations for life saving actions while working at the fire department from the State of Connecticut and the Town of East Haven. Mike was a firefighter's firefighter, and he was most proud to have been a firefighter. He believed in the comradery of the job, and leaving the job better than it was yesterday. Mike went on to teach for the State of Connecticut as a fire instructor at the Meriden Training Facility. Mike also worked for New Haven Ambulance as an EMT earlier in his public safety career. Mike was a familiar face around East Haven. He was always laughing, cracking a joke and always met you with a big smile. Mike could always be found in the warm weather near the water fishing and crabbing. Beside his loving wife Theresa, he is survived by his sons Michael (Alicia) Liso of Guilford, and Anthony Solevo of East Haven, his Daughters Kimberly Liso of Cheshire, and Gina (Walter) Dohna of Guilford, his brother Richard (Sue) Liso of Branford, and his grandchildren Justin Dohna, Kayla Dohna, Daniella Liso and Kiera Liso. He was predeceased by his daughter Christine Liso. Calling hours will be held at East Haven Memorial Funeral Home 425 Main St East Haven, CT on WEDNESDAY November 5, 2025 from 4pm-7pm. A Parlor Service will be held at the funeral home at 10am on THURSDAY, followed by a graveside service with full military honors at All Saints Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his daughter Christine.

In Loving Memory of Our Friend, Mike Liso

Today we remember and celebrate the life of an extraordinary man - a firefighter, a friend, and a soul whose courage burned as bright as the fires he fought. Mike Liso wasn´t just a hero in uniform; he was a man of heart, laughter, and unshakable faith.

He faced danger not with fear, but with purpose - to protect, to serve, and to love. Every call he answered, every life he touched, was a testament to his devotion to others. When the world was dark and filled with smoke, Mike brought light. When people were afraid, Mike brought calm. And when life grew heavy, he lifted others with his humor and his boundless love for family and friends.

He lived for his loved ones - his family was his anchor, his greatest pride, and his deepest joy. Whether sharing a meal, a story, or a smile, he made every moment sacred.

As we grieve, we also give thanks for the time God allowed us to walk beside him. Mike taught us what it means to be brave, to be kind, and to live every day with purpose and heart.

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one´s life for one´s friends."
- John 15:13

Mike, your strength, laughter, and love will never fade. Your spirit lives on in every flame you extinguished and every heart you touched.

May God´s eternal peace welcome you home, brave friend.
And may your family find comfort in knowing that your light will forever shine - not only in heaven but in all of us who were blessed to know you.

Rest in eternal peace, Hero.

With Love,
Charlie Farricielli and Family
