Miroslaw "Mike" Gil

Miroslaw "Mike" Gil, 89, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Born in Poland, Mike came to the United States in 1969 in search of a better life for his family. He worked for many years at Stanley Works before retiring, and was a devoted member of Holy Cross Church, where his faith remained a guiding light throughout his life.
Mike is survived by his beloved children: daughters Mirka Gil and Eva (William) Fadgyas, and his son John Gil. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his favorite granddaughter Angela (Daniel) Corcoran, and great-grandfather to twins Luca and Lucy. He also leaves behind his special friend, Sophie Mroczkowski.
Mike was a man of many passions-he loved cooking, building projects, fishing, traveling, being by the ocean, the outdoors and most of all, spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his warmth, strong and ambitious spirit, and unwavering love for those close to him.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Donna Gil, and his brother, Leon Gil. Donna tragically passed away in the 1987 Polish LOT air disaster-a loss that left a deep mark on his life.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Joanna Majcher, whom Mike lovingly called "my angel," for her dedicated care, as well as his favorite nurses, Beata and Kasia.
Mike's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, September 26, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Burritt Hill, 332 Burritt St., New Britain. His funeral service will begin on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at Burritt Hill Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Church, New Britain.
