Radjindre Soekha Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Radjindre Soekha

With deep sadness and broken hearts, we share that our beloved parents, Poernawatie Soekha and Radjindre Soekha, passed away together in a car accident on Thursday October 9, 2025. Though this is the hardest moment of our lives, we want to remember and honor who they were-the love they gave, the life they lived, and the legacy they left behind.

Our Dad

Radjindre Soekha, also known as Rin or Radj, was born on October 18, 1959 to the late Tarachand Soekha and the late Dewhoetie Soekha - Jewbali and raised in Paramaribo, Suriname, meaning he was a city boy. With the passing of his dad at an early age he and his siblings were raised by his mother. As a boy, he loved being outside with his friends, playing soccer and being up to no good. Dad was incredibly smart. He went to college and earned many certificates and diplomas, majoring with a mining engineering degree. During his college years he used to train singing birds and also took an interest in photography, with which he paid his tuitions. He also loved to sing and play the guitar, which he passed down to his kids. His other hobbies included playing, chess, cards and checkers.

He used to manage a car dealership and was also a sales person for Caterpillar heavy equipment. Additionally he was also a physics teacher. No matter what he did, he gave it his all.

Most importantly, Dad loved God deeply. He was a pastor for over 30 years, preaching and teaching about God's word with passion and honesty. He encouraged not just us, but so many others, to follow Christ. Together with Mom, they were a strong team, living for God and helping others find faith and hope in Him.

Together

They moved to Queens, New York on August 31st 2013 with all their kids. They were always working hard to make sure everyone was taken care of. Afterwards they moved to Connecticut in the month of January 2019, bought a house and settled down.

Our parents were best friends, partners in life and in ministry. They loved each other deeply and served God together in everything they did. They also had their fun moments-they loved going fishing and spending time in nature, just enjoying the peace and quiet.

Even in their final moments, they were together. And we know that right now, they are together in the presence of God they loved and lived for.

Their Legacy

As their children-Navien, Ashna, Sefanja and Matthew-we carry their legacy. They raised us with faith, love, wisdom, and strength. They taught us to work hard, to care for others, and to never stop trusting God. Their greatest hope would be for us to continue the work they started: to serve God, to love people, and to live with purpose.

We miss them more than words can say. But we are thankful for every moment we had, every lesson they taught us, and the example they set.

They didn't just talk about faith-they lived it. And now, their race is finished, and they are home.

Poernawatie and Radjindre both left their 4 children: Navien, Ashna, Sefanja and Matthew, and grand children Kadian , David, Olivia and Zion(to be born). Radjindre left his 4 brothers: Willy, Harold, Frits and Andre Soekha, his two sisters: Monique and Rosita Soekha. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Johan Soekha.
