Ralph Walsh Obituary
Ralph D. Walsh, 76, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 31, after a brief battle with blood cancer. He was surrounded by his beloved wife, Noemi (Ayala) Walsh, family members, and their pets.
Born in Van Buren, ME, Ralph was the eldest of six children of Ralph H. and Aurora Walsh and is survived by four siblings. After graduating from high school in Presque Isle, Maine, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maine at Orono. In 1973, he moved to Connecticut, where he received training from Honeywell, worked at IBM, and later founded his own company, R Walsh Associates, Inc. in 1982. The company specialized in computer programs and support for manufacturers, and later expanded to provide websites and software for local governments and schools across Connecticut. Ralph successfully ran the business for nearly 30 years before selling it and retiring.
Ralph was proud of his family's heritage, his Maine roots, and the experiences that shaped him. In his youth, he developed a lifelong love of fishing, enjoyed skiing, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which instilled in him a strong work ethic. He played guitar, loved storytelling, and entertained family with both for many years. He valued a good story, joke, or conversation that sparked the imagination. Ralph also loved to travel-whether camping with family, traveling for business, or going on a destination cruise with Noemi. At home, he enjoyed tending to his flower gardens, building wooden models, reading, playing solitaire, listening to music, and relaxing with a cigar by the fire pit.
Above all, Ralph found joy in helping others. He was proud to be a father and mentor, having guided five boys, three stepdaughters, more than a dozen grandchildren and step-grandchildren, and step great-grandchildren.
