Rekha Chandra Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rekha Chandra, who passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025. Our mother, a native of Patna, Bihar in India was born in Bhagalpur on December 19, 1939, to Harihar Chandra Verma and Chandravati Devi. Our mother was a visionary of sorts whose fierce spirit, zest for life, progressive mindset and courage to speak her mind, left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her. She was an independent feisty woman that led her life on her own terms. After completing a master's degree in Sociology, she dedicated her life to homemaking and trained as an EEG technician to support our dad/her husband in his Neurosurgery practice.
While she made our home a sanctuary and was practically the go-to person for the entire family, she nurtured not just her own children but extended herself as a guide, mentor, and advocate to countless others. She was the center of our universe -the one who made everything possible, everything better, and everything feel like home. She was the woman who did it all.
Her legacy lives on not only in her family but in the values she modeled every day-patience, generosity, resilience, desire for learning and unconditional love. She is survived by her children, Rajesh Chandra and Rashmi Chandra, her daughters-in-law Sarita Vasudevan and Sunita Kumar, son-in-law Devi Mohanty, her grandchildren Rahul Raj, Inakshi Chandra-Mohanty, Yasmin Sarita, Kabir Sarita, Arjun Chandra-Mohanty and Ria Raj, grand son-in-law Khalid Nadi and great grandson Amir Rakesh Nadi and the many families and friends whose lives she touched.
