Richard Koczak Obituary

Richard J. Koczak, age 76, of Wallingford passed away at the West Haven Veterans Administration Hospital on September 29, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Irene Gaszek Koczak. Richard was born in New Haven, the son of the late Arthur and Lorraine DesJardins Koczak. He is survived by his children, Richard (Andrea Falcon) Koczak of Wallingford, and Tatiana (Jim Potter) Koczak of Canton, his grandchildren, Nina, Samantha, and Nicole Koczak, Madison, Alyssa, Julia and Tyler Koczak, as well as his siblings, Arthur (Lorraine) Koczak, David (Mary Jane) Koczak, Cheryl, Cindy, Dennis and Mark Koczak, Richard was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who honorably served in Vietnam. In his professional career, he was a talented cabinet maker, known for his skill and craftsmanship. An avid angler, he especially loved bass fishing. Above all, Richard's greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren play soccer, hockey, and lacrosse. Richard's family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford on Sunday October 19th from 2:00pm – 5:00pm. Interment, with military honors, will be private at the State Veterans Cemetery.
