Richard Arthur Lafond

Richard Arthur Lafond, 81, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband to Carol Snyder Lafond. Richard was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on October 1, 1943, and was the son of the late Willie and Rhea Lambert Lafond. He served his country faithfully in the US Army Reserve. In Richard's early years he worked at Stop & Shop for almost 20 years, later became the owner and operator of first Custom Auto Wash in North Haven and then owned Lafond's Yale Avenue Carwash until his retirement. He will be remembered for his hard work and dedications to his family and his endless teasing with others. Richard was a lifelong member of the NRA. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and most of all family gatherings, he truly loved his entire family unconditionally. Loving father of David Lafond and James (Carol) Lafond. Beloved grandfather of James, Elizabeth, and David Lafond Jr., Britnee (David) Wojna, and Julia Lafond. Also survived by seven great grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter in law Holly Lafond, brothers Norman and Henry Lafond. The visiting hours will be on Monday, January 20th from 4 to 7 PM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday morning, January 21st at 11:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.
