Roberta M. Raccio

Roberta M. Raccio passed away on October 25, 2025. Her last several weeks were spent with her daughters, Jill Raccio of Wallingford, CT, and Jodie Small of Orange, CT, and her granddaughters, Megan Small of Richmond Hill, GA and Jordan Small of Orange, CT. When she was a sophomore in high school, she met Robert, who would become the only love of her life. They married in 1958: Roberta, the eldest daughter of Doris and Harold Thompson (Hamden, CT) and Robert, the youngest child of Anna and Dominic Raccio (Hamden, CT). The couple barely out of their teens endured major challenges when they were merely twenty-one years of age: starting a business from nothing, a business for which Roberta ultimately served as an office manager, while at the same time beginning a family with setbacks most never face. When people who knew her think about Roberta (Bobbi, Bert, Bebe), they remember several attributes that made them feel as if they had known her all their lives (some of us are lucky enough to say we have): her wit (she learned this art from her father), and her empathy, insight and wisdom. These, she gathered over some of her more tumultuous young adult years which brought unexpected changes in the direction of her life. Regardless of the difficulties she faced, kindness dominated her demeanor, but she was also spirited, energetic, courageous and fiercely protective of her family. It was her family that occupied the depths of her heart. They were the source of her greatest pride but also of a most profound sense of humility. The visiting hour will be on Saturday, October 8th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 12:00. Interment will follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby.
