Ronald Pekrul Obituary

Ronald George Pekrul, 94, of Southington, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Curtis Home in Meriden. He was the husband of Grete (Bierer) Pekrul. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Gustave and Ottilie (Dalke) Pekrul. Ron was a former Plainville resident before moving to Southington 45 years ago. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served in Korea. Ron was a long-time member of Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin, where he was a Sunday School teacher and where he served on the Building Committee and as a greeter. Ron was an avid golfer. In addition to his wife Grete, Ron is survived by his son, Mark Pekrul and his wife Laurie; two daughters, Patricia Van Bronkhorst and her husband Karl, and Janet Upton and her husband Steve; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by Grete's children, John Landfear and Karyn Cisinski, and was predeceased by her son, David Landfear. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin. Burial will follow in the Bethany Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Boulevard,Virginia Beach, VA 23453. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain, is in charge of arrangements.
