Thomas Tubman Obituary

Thomas J. Tubman, age 77, formerly of Cumberland, Rhode Island, and Enfield, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2025. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy A. Tubman. Thomas was a man of deep love, unwavering faith, and quiet strength who brought joy and inspiration to his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on March 7, 1948, Thomas was the devoted son of Lois M. Tubman (Donovan) and the late Robert P. Tubman. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his siblings: Robert P. Tubman Jr. and his wife Cathy, MaryLu McNulty and her husband John, and Kathleen Cabral and her husband Glenn. He also leaves his dearest friends, Efrain "Frank Master" Amaro, and his wife Josie. Thomas was a loving father to Katherine Viveiros, Daniel Tubman and his wife Rebecca, Laurie Marchand and her husband Jason, Kathleen Keogh, and Daniel Keogh. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to ten grandchildren: Matthew Tenga, Nathan Tubman, Marissa Tubman, Hannah Wilson, Michael Viveiros Jr., Gracie Edgar, Nicholas Viveiros, Aidan Tubman, Daniel Tubman Jr., and Dylan Marchand. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply. A true renaissance man, Thomas possessed a brilliant problem solving mind, an extraordinary intellect and a wide range of talents. He earned a degree in engineering from Roger Williams College and spent over five decades in the energy industry, earning 11 professional licenses. His expertise, leadership, and integrity were immeasurably respected by his peers and he was recognized with one of the industry's most prestigious lifetime achievement awards upon his retirement in 2023. Thomas was a man guided by faith, which he demonstrated through dedicated service to his parish in many roles over the years. He was a pillar of his family- dependable, loyal, and deeply principled. Known for his quick wit, encyclopedic knowledge, and legendary storytelling, he had a special knack for bringing smiles to those around him, often with a corny joke or a fascinating fact. Above all, Thomas Tubman was a man of character, humility, faith and love. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, and he will be profoundly missed but forever remembered. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT, and again on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at W.
