Timothy Carmody Obituary

Timothy Vincent Carmody
Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Friend
PROSPECT – Timothy Carmody, age 74, of Prospect, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, February 9, 2025. He was the adored and loving husband of Cynthia (Bergen) Carmody. Tim was born July 20, 1950, in Waterbury, Connecticut, son of the late Brendan T. and Helen M.(Corcoran) Carmody. He was a graduate of Crosby High School in Waterbury, and received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Haven.
Tim worked as an engineer his whole career, bringing ideas to life, but his proudest accomplishments were outside the office. He embraced and found joy in spending time with his beautiful wife, Cynthia, his three children and six grandchildren. As a younger lad, he could be found darting around in his yellow Porsche, jumping out of airplanes, playing hockey and causing mischief with his nine brothers and sisters. He had a love for cars (especially his MINI Coopers), camping (in the rain, because that seemed to be the only option), coaching, playing and refereeing soccer, biking, walks with his grandchildren, eating, taking naps, fixing things, history and traveling the world (as indicated by the number of mini hotel shampoos and airport chocolates we all received over the years).
With his adult children and their friends, Tim was considered the quiet life of the party, always good for the occasional dad joke or story, but more well-known for listening, sipping on a glass of red wine, wearing a warm smile and soaking in as much time as he could with his friends and family.
Besides his beloved wife, Cindy, he is survived by his three children, Shawn Carmody and his wife, Christine Carmody, of Cheshire; Lauren Grenier and her husband, Eric Grenier, of Cheshire; and Meghan Soucy and her husband, Ryan Soucy, of Farmington; his six loving grandchildren, Connor, Lily, and Brooklyn Grenier, Piper and Claire Carmody, and Emma Soucy; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members, including his siblings and sister-in-law Karen Bergen, and many dear friends, including his closest friends, Paul and Carrie Ramirez. He is survived by his siblings Thomas Carmody; Patrick Carmody and his wife, Brenda Carmody; Mary D'Avino and her partner, Peter Paradis; Catherine Roberge; Margaret Jasiulevicius and her husband, Algis Jasiulevicius; Christine Carmody; John Carmody; and Brenda Carmody and her partner, Stas Sienkiewicz. He was predeceased by his brother Kevin Carmody and Kevin's wife, Marlene Carmody.
He has left an indelible mark on everyone he met, and his legacy of being a kind, warm, funny and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend will live on forever.
Special thanks to the staff at Middlebury Complete Care, especially Debbie and Nicole for the special care they provided.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect, Connecticut, 06712, followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 4 Union City Rd, Prospect, Connecticut, 06712. My condolences to Tim´s family. I worked with Tim at ID Mail from the early beginnings and considered him not only a a fellow employee but a mentor and a friend. He was a talented engineer who was instrumental in design of much of IDMail´s equipment. Tim will be missed but not forgotten.

Tim, may you rest in peace now and be with the Lord. Tim spent nearly 20 years with us at ID Mail Systems and his designs and contributions continue to be used by our customers. We traveled together for many years going to sites in UK, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, and Belgium as well as across the USA. Tim always enjoyed meeting new people, seeing the products he helped design and we built installed and used by our customers. He also really enjoyed the food! I can remember several dinners at all you can eat restaurants where I thought we would be asked to leave. He and Tom Nash, God rest his soul, were in a contest to see who could eat the most sushi! Tom was a big guy but Tim matched him plate for plate. The rest of us wondered where he put it all. To the Carmody family, we know what a loss you have suffered, and we pray for all of you to remember the happy times. Tim, God bless you and be at peace!

My condolences to the entire family on the passing of Tim. He was our dad's roommate at Complete Care and I'd see him every time I visited our dad. A very small world - I worked with Eric (his son-in-law) at Yale several years back. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.
