Viola McDonald Obituary
Viola (Vickie) May McDonald, 88, of Windsor Locks, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
Born on September 29, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Elcock and Grace Gesner. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jerry McDonald Sr., her sister Delores, and her brother Wesley Jr. She is survived by her sister Jean Alderman of Suffield.
Vickie grew up in Suffield, Connecticut, where she was an honor student at Suffield High School. She was active in cheerleading, dance, and numerous school committees and activities, forming lifelong friendships that she cherished throughout her life.
After marrying Jerry, Vickie made her home in Windsor Locks, where they raised their family and built a lifetime of memories. She worked for many years in the Town Tax Assessor's Office in Windsor, where her dedication, kindness, and attention to detail earned her the respect of colleagues and the community alike.
Vickie loved exploring new places, curling up with a good book, and taking long walks through her neighborhood. She found joy in life's simple moments and had a deep appreciation for the beauty of everyday life. Above all, she treasured time with her family and the joy of the Christmas season, which she celebrated with warmth, generosity, and love. Her home was always filled with laughter, light, and togetherness.
She is survived by her children: Lisa Ward and her husband Chris, Jeff McDonald and his wife Gina, Deborah Heald and her husband Sean, and Jerry McDonald Jr. and his wife Jenny; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense happiness.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Manchester Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness during her final days, as well as to the staff of Buckingham Heights Memory Care in Glastonbury, where she lived and was cared for with dignity and affection.
Friends and family are invited for visitation at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, Connecticut, on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary's Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Windsor Locks.
