Vivian Arena Obituary

Vivian Arena Tribute Vivian Margaret (Luppino) Arena, 92, of Plainville, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. She was the widow of Frederick F. Arena. Born in New Britain on August 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Cora (Fuschillo) Luppino. Vivian was a hard working mother of four. While raising her children, she worked at National Inventory in Plainville and later retired from Stanley Black & Decker in New Britain. The most important thing to Vivian was her family and her faith. She belonged to Our Lady of Mercy Church and attended Mass every Sunday until the last few years of her life. She said her rosary faithfully every morning, and had a prayer list of anyone who asked her to pray for someone or something (her prayers were often answered). She loved having family over any day, any time. The highlight of the year was the annual Balloon Festival where the family celebrated several birthdays, including Vivian's. Her very favorite pastime was going for a 'long, long ride'. On her rides she liked to tell stories about her 'honeydew' Fred, how they met and all they did. Her favorite foods were 'cookies, candy and ice cream'. She is survived by her two brothers, Richard and Tony Luppino; her three daughters, Karen Brousseau and her husband Ernie of Stafford Springs, Joanne and her husband Donald Applegarth of Naples, Florida and Frances and her husband Paul Nagle of East Hartford; a son, David Arena (also known as 'sonny boy') and his wife Michelle, of Plainville; her grandchildren Dena, Eric, Seth and wife Karina, Jennifer (partner Seth and long-time friend Adam), Daniel and partner Amanda, Kara and partner Dionis, Amanda and husband Graig, Bryan and partner Alida, Nicholas and Bridget, and step granddaughter Jamie and husband Josh Morton and children Jesse and Jaxon, great grandchildren Domenic, Anthony, Zoe and Coraline, many many cherished nieces and nephews, and her good friend and long-time neighbor Sue Cavanna. She was predeceased by her husband Fred, her 'sister dear' Mary Ann Bielinski and her brother-in-law Steve Bielinski, her sisters-in-law Frances Luppino and Shirley Luppino. More than anything, Vivian would want you to remember that it is 'better to be coo coo than serious' and that 'you gotta know how to live', something her caregivers Linda, Delia, Savannah and Debbie knew all too well! The family would like to thank the amazing hospice staff at UConn Medical Center and Accent Care who were exceptionally kind and made Vivian's last week so comfortable and peaceful, for both her and her family. May Vivian now rest in peace and reunite with the love of her life. We wish her all the joy she so deserves. That will be a dollar, Vivian's favorite saying. Funeral Services and burial with her husband in St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville will take place privately and at the convenience of the family. Services have been entrusted to Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, CT 06062. The family plans to have a celebration of life in the coming year.
