Wendy Leggett Obituary
Wendy Renee Leggett, daughter of Willie and Bertha Mae Leggett, was born on July 26, 1965, in Hartford, Connecticut. She passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Renee was a proud graduate of Hartford High School and completed several college courses in pursuit of higher education. She was known for her nurturing spirit and deep love for her children. Renee had a gift for doing hair and often used her talent to care for family and friends. Her home was a welcoming place, her door was always open, and she was quick to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom.
A hard worker with unmatched dedication to her family, Renee built her life around caring for others both personally and professionally. She worked as a caretaker at Mt. Sinai Hospital, where her compassion and commitment touched many lives. With an entrepreneurial spirit, she later launched her own cleaning business, taking pride in every detail of her work. Despite her busy schedule, Renee maintained a spotless home and instilled in her children the importance of cleanliness, discipline, and responsibility. Saturday cleaning days became a cherished family tradition which included washing walls, scrubbing bathrooms, and learning the true value of hard work.
Renee had a contagious smile and a positive attitude that shined through every situation. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and loved the Lord deeply. As a devoted member of Shiloh Baptist Church, she faithfully served and shared God's Word with others whenever she could. Even when she was unable to attend church, she ensured her children were present and led family Bible studies at home or over the phone, a tradition she kept throughout her life.
She loved nature and found peace in fishing, she enjoyed every part of it: catching, cleaning, and cooking her catch to share with loved ones. She was also known for her delicious soul food meals that brought her family together.
Her presence lit up every room she entered. Renee was the life of the party, a passionate praiser in the sanctuary, and was affectionately known for her joyful clapping and dancing before the Lord. Her favorite song, "Just Fine" by Mary J. Blige, perfectly captured her spirit, she was truly "just fine" when surrounded by her family and friends. She loved attending family cookouts and always made a grand entrance, showing off her beautiful hair and stylish outfits.
Renee was immensely proud of her children and all of their accomplishments. Her love for them and her grandchildren was boundless.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children: Anthony Leggett, Maurice Leggett (Ciara), Ryan Leggett, Jewarna Willet Womack (Rondale), and Terrance Camby, all of Hartford, CT; her seven grandchildren: Mauriah Leggett, Rondale Ager Jr., Maurice Leggett Jr., Javion Ager, Anthony Leggett Jr., and Xyvon Ager; her bonus daughter Doretha Trice and bonus grandchildren Jermaine Reed, Jezar Green, and Nakhai Grant.
She also leaves her loving mother Bertha Mae Leggett; her brothers Roger Leggett of Hartford, CT, Jerome Leggett of New Haven, CT, and Edward Leggett of Manchester, CT; and her sister Jeneria Higginbotham of Youngsville, NC.
Renee was predeceased by her father Willie Leggett, her sister Jewarna "Kim" Leggett, and her grandmother Rosalie Adams.
Renee's memory will live on through the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
