William Reaske Obituary

William C. Reaske, Jr., of Ivoryton, CT, peacefully passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Gladeview Rehabilitation Center in Old Saybrook, CT. He was 74 years old. William, known as Bill, was born on April 3, 1950, in White Plains, NY. He attended Yorktown High School, and fulfilled draft service for the Army during the Vietnam War. After returning from active duty in 1973, Bill married his wife Christine in 1978, settled in Ivoryton, CT, and worked for publishing houses in Essex and Chester. He and Christine designed and built their family home, where they resided together until 2024. Bill was an artist and photographer; his illustrations are featured in the Campfire Tales book series, and he especially delighted in sketching and drawing for his daughter and grandchildren. He loved music, and attended the Woodstock Festival in 1969. He was an avid landscaper, and cherished his land and natural surroundings. During their forty-seven years of marriage, Bill and Christine enjoyed walking together in nature, going to regional fairs and festivals, and visiting local restaurants and landmarks. They regularly took family vacations to Ogunquit, ME, as well as to the far and near places their daughter and grandchildren resided during their son-in-law's military career. Bill is loved, missed, and fondly remembered. He is survived by his wife, Christine, of Ivoryton; his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Adam Robitaille, and his three grandsons, William, Paul, and Charles, of Fort Leavenworth, KS; his mother, Dena Grant Reaske, of Old Saybrook; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gloria Reaske, of Spokane, WA; his sister, Jessica Reaske, and nephew, Luke, of Ontario, Canada; as well as numerous family and friends.
