Carol Seybold Obituary

Carol Ann Seybold, 82, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at her home with her loving husband by her side. She was born on December 14, 1942, in Davenport, IA to Stanley and Violet Zabel Duggleby. Carol married Charles D. Seybold on May 18, 1968, at the Episcopal Cathedral in Davenport, IA and he survives. Carol was a proud graduate of the University of Iowa where she obtained her bachelor's degree in recreational therapy. Shortly after they married, Charles accepted a professorship in New Mexico and their first son, Rob, was born there. In 1974, they moved to Pittsfield to take over operations of Seybold Candy Company. She enjoyed being able to work from home while Rob and her youngest son, Scott, were small. After they sold the candy company, Carol went to work as a teller at First Bank where she planned and led trips for seniors which gave her many happy and fond memories. Carol liked boating and Charles taught her to water ski. They made several summer trips to the Ozarks with friends. They were able to visit many beautiful places over the years including Hawaii and her family's cottage on Lake Huron. Carol and Chuck also spent several winters in Bradenton, Florida after they retired. Carol belonged to three bridge clubs, Home Extension and was a member of the Pittsfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golf, planting flowers, watching game shows, and her lunch bunch. Carol was very proud of her grandchildren and rarely missed a ballgame or dance recital. She will forever be known as the woman with a heart of gold and a positive attitude. Carol is survived by her husband, Charles Seybold; sons, Rob (Rebecca) Seybold of Pittsfield, Illinois and Scott Seybold of Springfield, Illinois; and grandchildren, Colin, Berkley and Eva. Carol is also survived by her sister in-law Wendy Duggleby and brother in-law Craig (Lacy) Seybold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Violet Duggleby; brother Jim Duggleby; in-laws Charles and Elaine Seybold and Bertha Seybold. Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church with interment to follow the service at West Cemetery in Pittsfield, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pittsfield United Methodist Church or Pittsfield Fire Department. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
