Cecily Scranton Obituary
Cecily Ann Scranton, age 48 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL. She was born March 5, 1977, in Pittsfield, IL to Cecil and Cheryl Howell Scranton.
Cecily graduated from Barry High School in 1996 and then enlisted in the United States Army. Following her Army career, she returned home and married Joey Calvey. They had two children together, David Calvey and Cora Calvey.
Cecily enjoyed cooking, riding horses, camping, and spending time with her family, especially her kids and grandchildren. In 2007, Cecily, her mom Cheryl, and sister Oleta opened the Barry Café where they worked and ran the restaurant until turning the business over to her sister Tiffany Scranton. After her career at the Barry Café, Cecily worked at Lowes where she loved taking care of the plants and flowers. She then spent time working for the Maschhoffs and enjoyed working with the baby pigs. Cecily spent the rest of her career caring for and helping the elderly.
Cecily is survived by her father, Cecil (friend, Becky Armstead) Scranton; children, David (Maggie) Calvey and Cora (Blake Pulis) Calvey; grandchildren, Charlie Calvey, Xavier Calvey, and Baby Pulis on the way; sisters, Oleta (Jered) Birkbeck and Tiffany (Ryan) Harter; brother, Wayne (Paula) Scranton; mother-in-law, Lois Calvey; sister-in-law, Jacque (Marc) Lumley; and she was also a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews, in addition to taking on the role of great aunt to many.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Cheryl Scranton; her grandparents; late husband and best friend, Joey Calvey; fiancé, Steven Moesch; and good friend, Larry Williams.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL with interment to follow the service at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, Friday, June 6, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Chapel.
