Dave Yuchs Obituary
David T. "Dave" Yuchs, age 64, of Quincy, died on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 3:50 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Dave was born on September 10, 1961 in Quincy, a son of David L. and Sandra Hibbard Yuchs. On November 30, 1991, he married Kimi Collyer in Hamilton United Methodist Church in Hamilton, IL. She survives.
Dave was a 1979 graduate of Quincy High School. Following graduation, Dave began working for Harris Corporation at the antenna test site in Palmyra, Missouri. He then started his sales career at Ridder's Business Supply and later accepted a sales position at Fisher Business Supply, which eventually became part of Staples following several ownership changes. In 2023, Dave continued selling office supplies with Henricksen Office Solutions.
Dave was an active member of Union United Methodist Church, where he served in several roles, including head of the Pastor/Parish Committee. He also organized many pancake breakfasts and ice cream socials, taking pride in his fundraising efforts and striving to make his events the most successful.
He was also active in the Quincy Jaycees, serving as chapter president and holding state offices in the Illinois chapter. He remained a member until he aged out of the organization.
Dave had a lifelong passion for fireworks. He was a licensed pyrotechnician in both Illinois and Missouri, and since 1982 he and his partners, under the name Fireworks Authority, produced professional fireworks displays throughout the Tri-State area.
In his free time, Dave enjoyed watching professional football and was an enthusiastic fan of the Minnesota Vikings.
Most of all, Dave was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in his family and found his greatest joy in their time together.
In addition to his wife, Kimi, survivors include three children: Kasey (Caroline) Meyer; Stephanie (Tad) Johnson; and Alexis (Evan) Crawford, all of Quincy; three grandchildren: Wilbur and Asher Meyer and Rowyn Mills, with one on the way; his father, David (Lucinda) Yuchs of Quincy; his brother, Steven (Lynne) Yuchs of Humble, TX; his stepbrother, Eric (Julie) Stratman of Quincy; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Dudding.
Visitation: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Union United Methodist Church.
Service: 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Union United Methodist Church with Pastor Ron Tallcott and James Abbott officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL
