David Paisley Obituary

David A. Paisley, 91, of Macomb, IL, passed away at 9:07 AM Sunday April 28, 2024 at the Lamoine Assisted Living and Memory Care in Macomb, IL. He was born Sept. 8, 1932 in Brown County, IL to James and Corrine (Logsdon) Paisley; he married Rheta Robeson on Aug. 19, 1956. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Michael David (Nora) Paisley of Des Plaines, IL, Jill Dianne (Melanie Peters) Paisley of Hansville, WA, Fred Robert (Andre) Paisley of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, J. Megan Paisley and James David Paisley; 2 sisters, Janet Bond and Marianne Edlin both of Rushville, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graduated from Mt. Sterling H. S. in 1950. Graduated from Western IL University with B. S. in 1954 and with M. S. from WIU in 1957. Taught mathematics at Toulon H. S, Maine Twp. H. S. and WIU for a total of 47 years. After retiring, he spent many days on the golf course; loved being outdoors and spending time with his buddies. Also loved playing bridge. Besides playing in groups, he and Rheta played often with his sister Janet and husband when they were in Florida for the winter. A talented woodworker, he created many items for the Church and for relatives. An avid Cubs fan, he rarely missed watching a game. A devoted Dad and husband, he loved camping with the whole family and attending activities of offspring. He was a big tease, a loyal friend, and believed we should give back. A member of Wesley United Methodist Church. A celebration of his life will be at Wesley United Methodist Church on May 18, 2024 at 11AM with Pastor Scott Grulke and Pastor Melly Momo officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11AM. Luncheon will be served following the service. Burial of the ashes will be in Ripley, IL cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or the Joseph and Mary Stipanowich Math Scholarship Fund at WIU. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
