David Shoemaker Obituary
David Allen Shoemaker, Sr., age 93 of Perry, IL passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Barry Healthcare and Senior Living. He was born July 31, 1931, in Griggsville, IL to Elza and Reba Fowler Shoemaker. David married Billie 'Betty' Cawthon February 2, 1952, in Perry, IL and she survives.
David was a United States Army veteran stationed in Germany from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of Chambersburg Christian Church. David worked at Webel Feeds for over 27 years as a truckdriver where he was known by his CB handle, Roadrunner. After retiring in 1997, he enjoyed mowing, woodworking, and tinkering in his workshop. David also liked spending time outdoors camping and hunting for rabbit and squirrel. He was a wonderful husband, dad and grandfather and had a strong love for his family who always meant the world to him.
David is survived by his wife of 73 years, Billie 'Betty' Shoemaker; children, David Allen (Karen) Shoemaker, Jr. of Chambersburg, IL and Patricia (Rich) Walsh of Perry, IL; grandchildren, Brandi (Chuck) Woodward, Clay (Megan) Deeder, Gabrielle (Luke) Kempf, Garrett (Shayla) Shoemaker, Baileigh Brann, and Steven Brann; great grandchildren, Jason (Paige) Taylor, Michelle Taylor, Mackenzie (Jebediah) Lipcaman, Lexie Lipcaman, Colt Kempf, Reese Rigg, Ella Rigg, Reese McKinnon, River Rose Shoemaker, Garrett Woodward, Payton Woodward, Birdie Shoemaker, and Kelton Deeder; four great great grandchildren; and sister Thelma Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elza and Reba Shoemaker; brothers, Harold Shoemaker, Leslie Shoemaker, and Garold Shoemaker; sister, Connie Waite; great granddaughter, Danielle Taylor; and great great granddaughter, Aletheia 'AJ'.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Wilson Cemetery in Perry, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home.
