Flora Weaver Obituary
Flora M. Weaver, 104, of Bushnell, Illinois passed away at 6:00 am on Saturday September 14, 2024 at Courtyard Estates of Bushnell. She was born August 31, 1920 in Gadsden, AL to John W. and Callie Anna (Reed) Carter. She married Arthur Kay Weaver in Huntsville, AL on September 5, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2002.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rosalie Thompson, six brothers, Elmer, Joe, Velton, Shelton, Chester and W.D. Carter.
Surviving is one sister, Jean Agerton of Winchester, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Flora was born in Alabama but when she was 4 years old her family moved to Middle, TN. After Kay and Flora married, he was sent to Brownwood, Tx for the military. They lived there until August of 1943 when Kay was shipped out to Italy for World War II. Flora came to Bushnell at that time and spent the rest of her life in the area. Flora and Kay farmed in the Avon and Bushnell area for 45 years. She was a member of the Bushnell United Methodist Church, past member of the Elk Deers #1009 for 28 years and a member of the McDonough District Hospital Auxiliary for 28 years. She was also a lifelong seamstress and made many quilts over the years. She also chaired the Needlecraft Show at the Bushnell Fall Festival for several years. She was a friend to all that knew her.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday September 17, 2024 at the Bushnell Township Cemetery. Pastor Jeremy Peters will officiate. Memorial are suggested to the Bushnell VFW or to the Bushnell Rescue Squad. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
