Jean Viles

Orma Jean (Lindsey) Viles, age 85, of Clarence, MO passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at her home. Jean was born June 7, 1940 the daughter of Charles Noble and Orma Leda (Latimer) Lindsey at their home in Plevna, MO. She was welcomed by a sister, Leda Marie Dodd (George) and later a brother, James Noble Lindsey (Jill). Jean married Robert James Viles and they had four children, Bonnie Jean Kramer (David), Katharine Joann Dodd (Redd), Samantha Jane and Charles John Viles. Jean was a grandmother of five to Nicholas Wade Kramer (Caryn), Jacob Reid Kramer (Brynn), Wesley Noble Kramer (Heather), Jason James Dodd (Meaghan), and Corey Lee Dodd; great grandchildren, Cecelia Ann Kramer, Wyatt James Kramer, and Gavin Reid Kramer; step-great grandson, Ireland Kinslow. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert. Robert and Jean operated Bethel General Store-Feed and Farm Supply in Bethel, MO and a grain elevator in Shelbyville, MO. Later on, Robert began trucking and Jean went to work for a passenger elevator company until Robert passed away on August 5, 1997. She then went to work at the Mexico, MO post office for years. Once retired, Jean moved to Clarence and lived in an apartment above the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home for nearly 16 years. In July of 2020, the funeral home was struck by lightning, and Jean relocated to a residence in Clarence. Since 2017, Jean had been receiving chemo treatment for cancer. Jean was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed thrifting, birdwatching, and participating in the local theater productions. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Greening Eagan Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO, followed with the burial in the Mt. Salem Cemetery, near Newark, MO. Visitation will precede the funeral service starting at 10 am at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Donor's Choice.
