Jeanne Wear Obituary
Jeanne Louise (Wright) Wear, 78, of Quincy, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, September 5th, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Jean was born September 14th, 1946, in Lawrence, KS, to Stanley and Dorothy (Stith) Wright. On August 19, 1967, she married Cyrus Dean Wear in Macomb, IL.
A proud graduate of Western Illinois University High School in Macomb, she went on to attend Western Illinois University where she met her husband of nearly 40 years. Together they raised four beautiful daughters.
Jean was a very talented artist. She used her God given talents to draw, paint, and create everything from portraits, sketches and doodles, to redesigning and selling custom dog coats. She owned and operated Midwest Chenille Connection, creating letters and mascot designs for high school letter jackets across the region. Her love of family and animals led her to join with her younger sister, Sandi, to help her run Canine Camp, a boarding and grooming facility in Jacksonville, IL.
A Christ follower, Jeanne's love of God was a cornerstone in her life. She expressed her spirituality through song, as a member of a praise and worship team, adding her sweet harmony to their mix. She loved to read and study the Bible, joining a home group of like-minded believers who met weekly for many years. Gardening was another passion she joyfully indulged in. With patience and care, she grew and canned everything from a large variety of vegetables, to soups, and homemade sauces.
Jeanne's heart was fullest when surrounded by family. She hosted game nights filled with Dominoes, Pinocle, and various other games; creating a legacy of laughter and togetherness.
Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Sue Wear of St. Louis, Jeanette Korschot, and Amy Johns (Mark), of Quincy, and Sarah Wear (Shane Adams) of Louisiana, MO; her grandchildren, Cora and Gwendolyn Johns, and Joshua, Jenna, and Zachary Korschot, all of Quincy; also her sisters, Judy Ferguson (Marv) and Linda Hunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, her parents, Stan and Dot, and her sister, Sandi. Jean's legacy is one of faith, love, and artistry - a life well-lived and a heart well-loved.
Visitation for Jean will be held on Thursday, September 11th, 2025, from 4 to 7pm. Funeral services will be the next morning, Friday, September 12th, at 10am, with Michael Schaffer officiating. Both services will be held at O'Donnell Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. Burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park.
