Jesse L. "Jiggs" Lucas

Jesse L. "Jiggs" Lucas, 84, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 9:30 AM, Monday, October 20, 2025, at Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal, MO. Graveside Services and Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery in Frankford, MO. Rev. Richard Epperson will officiate. The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Jesse was born April 1, 1941, in Hannibal, MO to J.C. Lucas and Frances Epperson Lucas. Jesse married his high school sweetheart, Linda R. Williamson on November 26, 1959, on Thanksgiving Day, in Frankford, MO. She preceded her in death on December 13, 2019. Survivors include his two children, Jana Garner (Larry) of Hannibal, MO, and Jeffrey L. Lucas of San Diego, CA; one brother, Darrell E. Lucas of Bowling Green, MO; two grandchildren, Rihannan McClelland (CJ Burkhart), and Lucas P. McClelland; and one great grandchild, Frances L. Burkhart. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents. Professionally, Jesse was a pipe fitter for Hercules Chemical Plant from which he retired after 30 years. In his retirement, Jesse for worked for Keithly Farms. Known for his love of horses and dogs, Jesse's days were often filled with the sounds of nature and the companionship of his beloved animals. He found peace in the outdoors, where raising cattle, bird hunting, and coon hunting were not just pastimes but passions that brought him joy. Jesse spent countless hours in his garage tinkering on his vintage tractor. In his younger years, Jesse was an excelled in barrel racing. This same athleticism and competitive spirit led him to become an excellent basketball player. His talent secured him a scholarship to play at the University of Kansas, but instead Jesse opted to stay home to marry, Linda. Beyond his personal interests and achievements, Jesse was a pillar of support for his family and cherished all the memories made. Jesse attended all of his grandchildren's activities, never missing a chance to be there for them. He will be deeply missed.
