Jo Ann Davis

Jo Ann Weyhrich Davis, 80, of Macomb, IL, passed away at 3:25 AM Monday Nov. 18, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. Jo Ann was born July 19, 1944, in Pekin, IL, to Arthur Henry and Judith H. (Olsen) Weyhrich. Jo Ann is survived by her children; son, Chad Davis of Maryville, IL, and daughter and son-in-law, Lynette (Jim) Buitt of Franklin, TN; brother and sister-in-law, Jon (Martha) Weyhrich of Henderson, sister-in-law Emily Weyhrich, NV; nieces Kimberly Miller and Brenda Sanner and nephews Jeff Weyhrich and Steve Weyhrich. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her mother and father, Art and Judy Weyhrich, her brother, Ronald Ray Weyhrich and her sister, Shirley Jean Custer and brother-in-law Doug Kuster. Jo Ann grew up on a dairy farm in Green Valley, IL, where she enjoyed being a part of the local 4-H Club. She served as editor of the school newspaper, was a class officer and was on student council before graduating from GVHS as the Valedictorian in 1962. After studying at Illinois State University, she moved to Macomb in the mid-1960s. Later, she owned the Donut & Coffee Shop on the square in Macomb from 1976 to 1994. During that time, she was also actively involved as a leader in Brownies / Girl Scouts and spent many years volunteering at the McDonough District Hospital gift shop. After the sale of the Donut & Coffee Shop, she began working at Western Illinois University in 1995. She eventually landed a role in the CBT Global Opportunities International Grants department as a Grants and Contracts Administrator before retiring in 2014. Jo Ann spent her post-retirement years going to dinner with friends, cooking, playing games on her computer / tablet, watching true crime shows, shopping, and spending time with family. Funeral Services will begin at 10:30AM Saturday Nov. 23, 2024, at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday Nov. 23, 2024, from 9:00 AM-10:30AM at the Dodsworth funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church - Sand Prairie, 13443 Townline Road, Green Valley, IL, 61534.
