John W. Richers

John W. Richers, 94, of Donnellson, IA, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 5:54 PM at his home. He was born on November 21, 1930 in Ft. Madison to John H. and Violet F. Brannon Richers. John proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict spending ten months in Korea. On September 20, 1958 he married Sharolyn Bostrom in Iowa City, and she passed away on November 16, 2018. John was a computer serviceman for IBM and retired after thirty-six years of service. He was a pilot and built his own airplane and enjoyed doing aerobatics flying. John had a passion for fishing and hunting. He was a talented wood craftsman and enjoyed making dollhouse furniture for his granddaughters. Survivors include one daughter, Carol (Rob) Hogan of Donnellson; one son, Tom (Michelle) Richers of Marion; five grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Richers, Emily (Adam) VanArkel, Nathan (Lauren McKeen) Miner, Nicole (Josh Overturf) Richers and Sara (Ethan) Stancliffe; three step grandchildren, Dylan (Ashtyn), Derek, and Drake (Savanna) Hogan; two great grandchildren, Owen & Eian; three brothers, Jim (Pat) Richers of Wever, Darrell (Jan) Richers of Ft. Madison and Mark (Phyl) Richers of Denmark; two sisters, Marlene (Larry) Keester of Ft. Madison and Mary Lou (Dwight) Anderson of Davenport; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Marge McCarty & Donna Deeds, two brothers, Herb & Bob Richers and one son in law, Dave Miner. Per his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will meet with friends from 10-11 AM on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The memorial service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor David Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Keokuk National Cemetery with Military Honors.
