Judith McCance Obituary

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it became the life verse for Judith "Kay" McCance, 84, of Smithfield, Illinois who passed away at 8:20 pm on Saturday March 15, 2025 with family at her side. She was born May 1, 1940 in Clinton, IL to Charles and Bernice (Peacock) Donaldson. She married Bernard McCance in Bloomington, IL on July 5, 1964. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Karen McCance of Good Hope, IL; Stacey (Monte) Creger of Dunlap, IL; five grandchildren, Ben and Alexis McCance, Makayla, Tyler and Alexis Mathewson, one great-granddaughter, Amelia Mathewson and brother-in-law Steve Littell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Cynthia McCance, brother, Curtis Donaldson and sister, Barb Littell.
After graduation from Valley High School Kay attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL to study nursing. She then went on to complete post graduate work in Cook County, IL. Kay was a kind and compassionate person, and those traits served her well as a Registered Nurse. She also had a lifelong passion for Horticulture. Faith, Family and Flowers would best describe Kay. She loved her family with her whole heart, she had an unwavering faith in God who has now set her free from her pain.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday March 20, 2025 at Checkrow Community Church with Pastor Brett Fisher officiating. Where visitation will be on Wednesday March 19, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Bushnell Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Checkrow Community Church or to the Cole Street Coffee House. Martin-Hollis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
