Julie Burgess Obituary
Julie Ann Burgess, 59 of Keokuk, IA passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born November 17, 1965 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Foster Jewel and Carole Sue Williams Watts. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1984 and later earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting from Midstate College.
On March 5, 1984 Julie was united in marriage to Gary Leroy Burgess in Keokuk. He survives.
Other survivors include six children, Jessica Burgess (Chase Taylor) of Keokuk, Sara Burgess of Quincy, IL, Joshua Burgess of Carthage IL, Gage Burgess (Alexis Murphy) of Carthage, IL, Isaac Burgess of Carthage, IL and Dega Burgess of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Kylee Cramsey, Katie Cramsey, Aiden Burgess and Keith Burgess and numerous others that considered Julie her own that called her mom. She is also survived by three siblings, Michael Watts (Tina) of Louisville, KY, Melody Poore (Ron) of Yorkville, IL and Todd Watts (Clara) of Ft. Madison, IA. In addition, she is survived by other family members including, Adam Davis and his daughter, Maddie, Sheila Williams Stark, Megan Watts (Merle), Chris Williams Anderson, Bobby Williams, Kevin Williams (Kathy), Vicky Seubert (Chuck), Linda Perea, Anita Gunn and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Melissa Watts and Debbie Wall, one brother, Scott Watts, her grandparents, Robert and Bessie Williams, grandmother, Mary Watts, one uncle, Mike Williams, two aunts, Judy Bryant and Bonnie Williams, two cousins, Dianna Wall and Micky Williams and one niece, Heather Poore.
Julie had been employed by Circle K in Carthage, IL as assistant manager for twenty years, until her retirement on April 14, 2025.
Julie's greatest passion was spending time with her kids and family. She loved working at Circle K and talking with her work family and customers. She also loved shopping on Temu and buying things she really didn't need.
A funeral service wase held at 1 p.m., Sunday at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Jerome Lee officiating.
Visitation was held prior to the service, Sunday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.
