Linda Simpson Obituary

Linda L. Simpson, 77, of Ft. Madison, IA, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2025 at 7:40 PM at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on July 10, 1948 in Ft. Madison to Walter and Clara Boeding Walljasper. She married Jimmy Carter and to this marriage their daughters Annette and Jennifer were born. She then married Frank Simpson and he preceded her in death. Linda fell in love with her long-time best friend and companion, Rick Munoz and he also preceded her in death. Linda was an extremely hard-working woman and worked production at Sheaffer Pen Co., IAAP and Gleason's where she retired from after many years of service. Linda enjoyed doing crafts, especially cross stitch, needle point and quilting. She enjoyed the activities at the Newberry Center, playing cards and crafts at the Library with the Heifer Girls and swimming at the YMCA. She was a member of the Donnellson Red Hats and volunteered countless hours for RSVP and the decorating committee at Holy Family Parish. Linda was a very kind person and didn't know a stranger. She was always willing to help anyone in need and did so even through her illness. Most of all, Linda loved spending time with her family; traveling with them and being with her grandchildren and attending their events. Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer (Bill) Maffucci of Clive, IA and Annette (Ryan) Eckmeier of Colona, IL; four grandchildren, Jarred (Kuiyin) Carter, Karina Eckmeier, Johnathan Maffucci, Cameron Maffucci; one great grandson, Noah Carter; her siblings, Racheal Kunesh, Mark Walljasper, Kathy Crawford and Ruth McDaniel; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank Simpson; longtime companion, Rick Munoz, a brother, Matthew Walljasper and her son James David in infancy. Per her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. Memorials have been established for Fort Madison Public Library Crafts, Newberry Senior Center, and Holy Family Parrish. Online condolences may be left at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory website: www.kinglynk.com.
