Lois Crickard Obituary

Lois Jane Crickard, age 94, of Quincy, died on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 7:10 p.m. in Sunset Home.

She was born August 8, 1931 in Worcester, Massachusetts the daughter of Jonathan and Rose Marie Halvorsen Stevenson.

Mrs. Crickard graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester,MA; in 1949. While a student nurse at Worcester Hahnemann Hospital of Nursing in Worcester, MA.she met George E. Crickard Jr., M.D. and they were married June 12, 1953 in Shrewsbury,MA. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2010. She later worked as an OB nurse at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester, MA, Lying-In Hospital in Boston and then became OB Staff Nurse and Clinical Supervisor at Hahnemann. From 1954 to 1957 she was OB Supervisor at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover NH. In 1959, the Crickards moved to Quincy. Mrs. Crickard was a member of First Union Congregational Church.

She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, Blessing Outreach Program and Hospitality Room. From 1978 to 2018, Lois dedicated herself to volunteering by visiting residents in local nursing homes, a commitment that spanned four decades. She often brought her children-and later her grandchildren-along, teaching them the value of compassion and service by example. Lois spent time with the residents, offering companionship and homemade baked treats that brought comfort and joy. Her regular visits to Blessing Hospital Long Term Care, Good Samaritan Home, and Sunset Home left a lasting impact on both the residents and the generations of her family

Lois had a lifelong love of being near the water and was always drawn to places where she could relax and spend time with her family. She made it a priority to maintain a special place near the water, creating welcoming spaces for gatherings and shared memories. Over the years, she found that sense of peace and connection in several special places, including Sandbridge, Virginia; Quincy, on the Mississippi River; and the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Rose (Michael) Troup of Quincy; a son, George (Maureen) Crickard, III, M.D. of Quincy; six grandchildren, Michael A. (Breanna) Troup Jr. of Quincy, Blaine N. Troup of Quincy, Jensen C. Troup of Champaign, IL, George E. Lois was one of my favorite people. She always had a story or memory to share.
She was devoted to her community and was a pleasure to volunteer with.
This picture of her captures her spirit exactly.
I´m sorry for your loss but know you have some great memories of "Toots".
