Marilyn Hufendick Obituary
Marilyn Hufendick, 85, of Sutter, passed away at 11:15 AM Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Silver Maple Care Center in Carthage.
Marilyn was born August 15, 1940, in the Ursa Bottoms, the daughter of Harold Lark and Axie Jane (Stanfield) Seals. She attended Mendon schools graduating in 1958. She went on to receive her secretarial associate's degree from Gem City College. On March 26, 1961, she was united in marriage to Clyde Hufendick at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga. He preceded her in death in 2023. She worked at Methode Electronics in Carthage for over 25 years. Marilyn enjoyed her membership in the Kings and Queens at the Salem Church in Quincy and was later an active member of the Bethany United Church in Tioga for many years. She loved the area and landmarks of where she grew up, especially the Meyer Elevator and Ferry. Marilyn enjoyed learning about her own genealogy, was excellent at crossword puzzles, and was a terrific seamstress, often making lovely clothing for her family and herself. Not only was she the family matriarch, she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a terrific grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family very much. The lights of her life were her children and grandchildren. She cherished time with them as they did with her - whether it was sharing pictures and stories, making them her famous roast beef and mashed potatoes, or playing treasure hunt.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Julie (Jackie) Wilson of Hamilton, Kevin (Jill) Hufendick of Quincy, Kent (Jennifer) Hufendick Battleground, Indiana and Mark (Sarah) Hufendick of Lima; grandchildren, Jessica (Jacob) Redman, Jackie (Christie) Wilson, Joni (Robert) Smith, Courtney (Brian) Buford, Abbey DePauw, Kelley (Bowin) Davisson, George Hufendick, and Andrew (Bailey) Smith; 19 great grandchildren; a sister, Linda Pierceall; and two nieces, Patty (Jim) Moots and Janice (Don) Dimmitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde; a brother, Richard Seals; sister-in-law, Joan Seals; and a brother-in-law, Jim Pierceall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
